Holston Camp has traditionally offered an opportunity for senior campers to move into a position of greater responsibility and leadership within the camp environment. This season Holston Camp offers a Counselor-in-Training program that inspires campers entering their senior year of high school to return to camp to offer their experience and skills as a camper to younger campers. Their role is to supplement the summer staff by learning the roles of the counselor yet still be classified as a senior camper. They are to develop as leaders, mentors, and friends of the younger camper class.
The Application Process
- Complete the application form. Please write neatly.
- Return to Holston Center no later than April 5, 2019 at 5:00 pm.
- Applicants will be chosen based on a) arrival of application; b) previous camp experience; c) content of application; and d) availability of schedule.
- Approved applicants will be contacted and asked to register for the designated session.
Session 1 and Session 2. June 23-through June 21. (4 CITs—2 male, 2 female)
Session 3 and Session 4. June 30 through July 12. (4 CITs—2 male, 2 female)
Session 5 and Session 6. July 14-through July 26. (2 CITs—2 female)
Session 7- and Day Camp 8. July 28—August 9. (2 CITs— 1 male, 1 female)
2019 Schedule and General Requirements for CITs
CITs Must be a rising Senior in High School to qualify for Counselor-in-Training.
Work week is from Sunday at 1:00 pm until Friday at 5:00.
ALL CITs WILL BE RESIDENTS AND SUBJECT TO WORK AT EITHER DAY CAMP OR OVERNIGHT CAMP.
CITS MAY SPEND THE SESSION WEEKEND AT CAMP ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT REQUIRED.
CITs CHOOSING TO SPEND THE WEEKEND AT CAMP WILL BE UNDER CONSTANT SUPERVISION FROM THE CAMP DIRECTOR, SUMMER PROGRAM DIRECTOR, AND/OR CAMP STAFF. CITs WILL BUNK WITH OTHER COUNSELORS OF THE SAME GENDER. MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED. CITs WHO CHOOSE TO SPEND THE WEEKEND WILL NEED THE PERMISSION OF THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN. CITs WILL NOT BE ALLOWED OFF CAMP GROUNDS DURING THE WEEKEND WITHOUT SPECIFIC PERMISSION FROM PARENT/GUARDIAN AND DIRECTOR.
